Warpage indicator, all effects result

The Warpage indicator, all effects result highlights those areas of the part where the out-of-plane deflections are approaching or exceeding the specified nominal maximum deflection (NMD) value.

This result is calculated one of two ways.

Against an anchor plane where three points are specified on the part that define this plane. The deflection of the warped part in relation to this plane is measured.
A "best fit" technique where the deformed geometry is measured against a Best Fit plane. The plane is defined in such a way that the total displacement of Reference points is as small as possible. As many reference points as required can be specified.

Using this result

The colors displayed in this plot are based on the following assessment criteria.

Color (Assessment)	Explanation
Green (Low)	The out-of-plane deflections are less than 80 percent of the specified NMD value. The warpage in this area is low.
Yellow (Medium)	The out-of-plane deflections are between 80 percent and 120 percent of the specified NMD. The warpage in this area is significant and you should consider taking measures to reduce the warpage.
Red (High)	The out-of-plane deflections are greater than 120 percent of the specified NMD. The warpage in this area is high and it is highly recommended that corrective measures be taken.

Things to look for

The total warpage of the part is caused by one or more of the following three factors:

Differential shrinkage caused by variation in shrinkage from region to region.
Differential cooling caused by temperature differences between one side of the mold to the other.
Orientation effects caused by variations in the magnitude of shrinkage in directions that are parallel and perpendicular to the material orientation direction.

If areas of the part have unacceptably high warpage, view each of the three Warpage Indicator plots that correspond to the above factors to identify the cause of the warpage.

Note: To obtain the Differential shrinkage, Differential cooling and Orientation effects results for 3D parts, you must disable aggregation before the Warp analysis is performed.
