To model a valve gate from a curve

Valve gates are easily created along a curve.

  1. Select the curve that represents a hot drop requiring a valve gate.

  2. Click change (Geometry tab > Properties panel > Change).

  3. Select Hot Gate from the list that appears.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Click edit (Geometry tab > Properties panel > Edit).

  6. Select the Valve Gate Control tab.

  7. Select the required valve gate controller from the drop down list or select Valve gate controller defaults and edit the parameters as required.

Tip: Change the name of the controller so that it can be easily identified.

  8. Click gerneate mesh (Mesh tab > Mesh panel > Generate Mesh)

  9. ClickMesh, to launch the Simulation Compute Manager.

  10. In the Simulation Compute Manager, select the solve location, then click Launch.

Beam elements are created along the curve, and have the same property as the curve. A valve gate definition is only added to the beam element in contact with the part.
