Masterbatch

A high concentration of pigments, fillers and/or additives that are added to a carrier polymer.

The carrier polymer is added to the raw polymer to form the final compound during the manufacturing process.

Masterbatches help to ensure the additives are evenly dispersed throughout the final compound. They also reduce the number of individual materials that manufacturers must purchase and combine to create the compound, and make it easier to purchase raw polymer in bulk.
