Thick and chunky

A term used to characterize geometry that does not approximate thin-walled shells.

Thin-walled shells have a clearly identifiable thickness (t) that is much smaller than the lateral dimension of the part (L); that is, (t) divided by (L) is much less than 1 (t/L <<1).

This is not true for thick and chunky parts which have significant areas that do not satisfy this condition.
