Working with Fusion 360 and Netfabb

Autodesk Fusion 360 is an easy-to-learn application for designing 3D parts on a Macintosh or Windows computer. For more information, click Fusion 360 Overview.

Fusion 360 supports a direct connection to Netfabb. This topic explains how to set up Fusion 360 for use with Netfabb and the Simulation Utility.

To download and run Fusion 360

  1. Go to Fusion 360 download site and download a free 30-day trial of the product software.
  2. Install the product.
  3. Refer to the Help and Tutorials to learn how to draw part sketches with precise dimensions, or import existing CAD parts.

To adapt Fusion 360 for use with Netfabb

  1. In the Fusion 360 Design workspace, choose Utilities > Add-ins > Fusion 360 App Store to open the app store in your default web browser.
  2. In the web store search for "Netfabb". The plugin's full name is Autodesk® Netfabb® for Autodesk® Fusion 360™
  3. Follow the directions to download the add-in's installer and install it. A restart of Fusion 360 may be required.
  4. In the Fusion 360 Design workspace, click Utilities > Add-ins menu > Scripts and Add-ins.
  5. On the Add-Ins tab, select NetfabbForFusion and ensure that Run on Startup is selected.

    When you start Fusion 360, you should see Netfabb for Fusion 360 as an option in the Design workspace's Make menu.

To send a model from Fusion 360 to Netfabb

  1. In Fusion 360 Design workspace, select the body or component to export.
  2. From the main menu, choose Utilities > Make > Netfabb for Fusion 360.
  3. In the next dialog, select the target application as available.
  4. Click OK to open the tessellated model in Netfabb.
