Units

This item is the next sub-level in the model tree under Analysis. It provides an option to define a unit system within the Analysis dialog.

Unit System:

• CAD Model: It is the default unit system defined in Document Settings of the CAD Environment.
• SI: It is the MKS system (meters, kilograms, seconds, newton, kelvin and degree).
• Modified SI: It is the modified MKS system (millimeters, tonne, seconds, newton, kelvin and degree).
• English: It is the British / IPS unit system (inches, pounds seconds square per inch, seconds, pounds, Fahrenheit and degree).
• CGS: It is the system used to set the standard units as centimeter, grams, seconds, dyne, Celsius and degree.

The units selected within the Analysis form are defined only for that specific Analysis. The units are also exported to the Nastran Bulk Data file as PARAM, UNITS, LengthUnit (such as IN or MM).

Once the units are defined, they will show up in the tree under Analysis, and you can edit the unit system from there, as shown in the following image.

The display units are also shown at the top of the legend for results contour plots. In this case, a drop-down menu is provided to quickly switch to alternative display units.
