Allowables

This section of the Material form allows you to specify allowable values for tensile strength, compressive strength, and shear strength.

• Failure Theory:
  • None: It doesn't perform calculation.
  • von Mises Stress: Uses von Mises stress as the failure criteria for factor of safety calculation. An output vector will be written to the result file upon analysis completion to contour factor of safety.
  • Principal Stress: Uses principal stress as the failure criteria for factor of safety calculation. An output vector will be written to the result file upon analysis completion to contour factor of safety.
