Lock to an Axis When Measuring

1. Click Review tab > Measure panel > Measure drop-down.

2. Click a Measure tool.

3. Press X, Y, or Z, depending which axis you want to lock to.

   Or, on the Measure panel > Lock drop-down, choose from:

   • X axis
   • Y axis
   • Z axis .

4. Move your cursor over the model in the Scene View and use the surface snap to select a surface.

5. Click the start point of the distance to be measured in the Scene View.

   The measure line turns red to indicate it is locked to the axis.

6. Click the end point of the distance to be measured in the Scene View.

   The optional dimension label displays the measured distance.

Command entry: Press X, Y, or Z when using a Measure tool.
