Point-locking

Point-locking automatically positions any points entered using the mouse to lie on the principal plane. For example, if the principal plane is XY, each point you enter using the mouse has a Z coordinate of zero.

To enter a position that is not on the principal plane, you can:

If you snap to a key point that does not lie on the principal plane (as shown below):

then the new position is projected onto the principal plane:

When you move the intelligent cursor over such a key point, it changes to show that clicking the key point will project new positions onto the principal plane.
