Options dialog to control the default settings for meshes within models:
- Click File > Options > Application Options > Object > Mesh.
- Specify the default mesh segmentation settings using the following options:
- Item type to fit — Select

Solids to be the default item type to fit to the mesh when segmenting.
- Trim surfaces — Select this option to toggle between creating trimmed or full surfaces when segmenting.
- Fit method — Select an option from the list to set the default setting for fitting primitive surfaces to a mesh when you are automatically or manually segmenting a mesh.
- Surface Alignment angle
— Enter a value to define the tolerance for aligning surfaces with a principal plane. If an axis of a surface is within the tolerance of a principal plane, the axis is snapped to the principal plane.
- Surface Extension distance
— Enter a value to define the distance by which a surface is extended beyond the edge of its region.
- Solid Alignment angle
— Enter a value to define the tolerance for aligning solids with a principal plane. If an axis of a solid is within the tolerance of a principal plane, the axis is snapped to the principal plane.
