Use this option to define groups and members (made of steel, timber, or aluminum) that are under design.
- Access
-
- Select the
Steel Design layout, or
Timber Design layout.
- Alternatively, click
or
on the toolbar.
This dialog contains two tabs:
Members and
Groups.
Members tab
Use this tab to define member groups
- Number
- Displays the member number.
Note: It is always the next to the highest existing number. You can enter a different number but only for the newly created members. Selection from the list or entering an already existing number will result in a redefinition of the current state of the member parameters. If several members are defined at the same time, the first member is represented by the number listed in the field and the following member is represented by the next available number.
- New
- Adds a new member to the existing list.
- Basic data
-
- Member list
- Specify the list of member elements which constitute one member.
- Member elements are identified by their number.
- Name
- Enter a name for the member list, to allow for an easier identification of the members while reviewing the results, or while creating the documentation.
- Group
- Select the group to which the member should be added during the member definition.
- Member Type
- Select the defined member type used during the member definition.
- Selection
- Opens the dialog to select member elements which constitute one member.
- Parameters
- Opens the Member Definition - Parameters dialog which allows you to define the code parameters of a member depending on the selected design code.
Groups tab
Use this tab to define member groups.
- Number
- Select a group number, or click
New to create a new one.
- New
- Adds a new group to the existing list.
- Basic data
-
- Member list
- Specify the list of members that belong to a defined group.
- Name
- Enter a name for the group.
- Material
- Select a material for the group of members.
- Each member has its own material defined. If members of various materials are used in one group, calculations are based on the material defined in this field. By default, the material of the first member is used as the group material in this box.
- Sections
- Opens the Selection of Sections dialog which allows you to select the types of sections that will be applied during the verification and design processes.
- Parametrized sections
- Opens the Parametrized sections dialog which allows you to enable automatic design through the use of parametrized tapered sections.
