Purlins

Use the options on this tab to define the basic information on the geometry of the purlins.

Data to define purlins for a selected bay:

  1. purlins are defined for a bay if the Purlins option is activated
  2. purlin parameters
    • the number of purlins on the left / right roof side
    • purlin span on the left / right side of the roof; the purlins are distributed uniformly, started from the roof ridge
    • distances of the extreme purlins from the roof ridge / column
  3. type of the purlin fixing:
    • free-supported purlins
    • continuous purlins
  4. profile and material of purlins
  5. stiffening of purlins with angle braces for selected purlins (the purlins are numbered from the left side).

Additionally, parameters of the roof ridge beam and the longitudinal beams can be defined on this tab (from the right and the left side of the bay). They are available if the following options are activated: Beam (for the roof ridge beam) and Left / Right for the longitudinal beams.

The roof ridge beam stiffening elements for the subsequent frames of the roof ridge. The longitudinal beam is an element stiffening the subsequent frames in the column-beam connections (independently from the left and right side of a bay).

Select the More... option in the selection list of profiles to open an additional dialog where you can add another profile from the selected profile database to the list of the available profiles.
