Set up an Equivalent Static Analysis (Equivalent Lateral Force Method)

The seismic analysis according to the equivalent lateral force method is independent from other cases. Therefore, you don't need to set up a modal case first.

1. Click Analysis Analysis Types. The Analysis Types dialog opens.
2. Click New. The New Case Definition dialog opens.
3. Select Seismic (Equivalent Lateral Force Method), and then click OK. The Seismic Analysis dialog opens.
4. Select the code according to which you want to run the calculations.
5. Click Directions and Combinations to define the direction of the seismic excitation.
6. Select a method to define the values of the fundamental period.
   • • Select Approximate to calculate the values according to the formulas of the selected code.
     • Select User defined to enter the values manually.
     • Select Precise to generate a modal case. In this case, click Modal Analysis Parameters to review the settings of the modal analysis.
7. Review the Range of seismic load and the Seismic Analysis Parameters.
8. Click OK.
