Returns information concerning section properties.

RSA_SECTION_DATA (Information type, Section name)

The RSA_SECTION_DATA formula syntax has the following arguments:

Information type

The following types of information are available:

  • ANGLE1

    additional angle which can be specified for some section (for example thin-walled section)

  • ANGLE2

    additional angle which can be specified for some section (for example thin-walled section)

  • AX

    cross-sectional area

  • AY

    reduced cross-sectional area when the influence of shear forces is considered (for calculations of angular deformations XY)

  • AZ

    reduced cross-sectional area when the influence of shear forces is considered (for calculations of angular deformations XZ)

  • BF

    section width: basic (maximal) horizontal dimension of a section

  • BF2

    width of section bf2 in a monosymmetric section

  • D

    section height: basic (maximal) vertical dimension of a section

  • DIM1

    dimension 1 (first numerical component of the section label)

  • DIM2

    dimension 2 (second numerical component of the section label)

  • DIM3

    dimension 3 (third numerical component of the section label)

  • GAMMA

    Gamma angle

  • IOMEGA

    warping constant I_omega

  • IX

    moment of inertia for torsion

  • IY

    moment of inertia about Y axis

  • IZ

    moment of inertia about Z axis

  • P1_LENGTH

    height of web p1 in parametric cross type section - l

  • P1_THICKNESS

    thickness of web p1 in parametric cross type section - t

  • P2_LENGTH

    height of web p2 in parametric cross type section - l

  • P2_THICKNESS

    thickness of web p2 in parametric cross type section - t

  • P3_LENGTH

    extreme fiber distance from Z axis (on the negative side of Y axis)

  • VPZ

    extreme fiber distance from Y axis (on the negative side of Z axis)

  • VY

    extreme fiber distance from Z axis (on the positive side of Y axis)

  • VZ

    extreme fiber distance from Y axis (on the positive side of Z axis)

  • WEIGHT

    nominal weight per unit length of a bar

  • WELY

    value of elastic section modulus Wely = max(Iy/vz, Iy/vpz)

  • WELZ

    value of elastic section modulus Welz = max(Iz/vy, Iz,/vpy)

  • WX

    section modulus for calculations of torsion stresses

  • WY

    shear area Qy

  • WZ

    shear area Qz

  • ZY

    plastic section modulus in bending about Y axis Wply

  • ZZ

    plastic section modulus in bending about Z axis Wplz

Note: If you type an argument in the formula manually, enclose the text in quotation marks. You can also select or type a cell address (for example A1) which the data will be loaded from.

Section name

The following input methods are available:

  • Text - type a text (any character string) and enclose it in quotation marks
  • Cell address - select or type a cell address (for example A1) which the data will be loaded from

Formula:

RSA_SECTION_DATA("WEIGHT","W 8x15") - specifies a weight value per unit length of the cross-section of the W 8x15 section
