Use 3D Sketch

Launch a session of FormIt and import geometry from the current Revit model.

Use 3D Sketch when you would like to develop a conceptual design with FormIt and use a Revit model as context. When you use the 3D Sketch functionality additional functionality is available in the FormIt session to send geometry developed in FormIt back to your Revit model.
Note: FormIt Desktop must be installed to use 3D Sketch. For information on downloading and installing FormIt see: FormIt Help

To use a 3D Sketch

  1. Click Massing and Site tab Conceptual Mass panel 3D Sketch.
  2. Set the value for auto import when FormIt is launched.
    • Nothing - No geometry from the current model is imported. FormIt is launched with an empty model.
    • Selected Only - Before FormIt is launched, you are prompted to select geometry from the current model for import into FormIt.
    • All Visible - Geometry visible in the current view is imported into FormIt when launched. Limit geometry visible in your model by turning off the visibility of elements or categories, or by applying a section box to the view.
    Note: Not all geometry and categories are eligible for import into FormIt. See About 3D Sketch for a list of geometry that is not eligible for import.
  3. Click OK
