When mechanical engineers collaborate with architects on a project, the architect often creates the building model first, placing fixtures in the desired locations. The mechanical engineers then need to add details to the model, including connectors, wiring, piping, and so on.
To obtain accurate information from the architectural model and keep it up to date, the mechanical engineer can link the architectural model to an MEP model, and use Copy/Monitor to copy fixtures to the MEP model. If the architect adds, removes, or changes fixtures, the software notifies the mechanical engineers of the changes. They can then update the MEP model, as appropriate.
