Patterns for DWG/DXF Export

Use the Patterns tab of the Modify DWG/DXF Export Setup dialog to map Revit fill patterns to specific hatch patterns in DWG.

By default, each Revit fill pattern listed in the mapping table has a corresponding DWG hatch pattern generated automatically upon export. This hatch pattern matches the Revit fill pattern.

To map a Revit fill pattern to a specific DWG hatch pattern, do the following:

  1. For Load DWG hatch patterns from, navigate to and select the PAT file that contains the desired pattern.
  2. In the Hatch Patterns in DWG column of the table, click the value for the pattern, and select the desired pattern from the drop-down list.
  3. Under Pattern Type, specify the type of fill patterns (Drafting or Model) to list in the table. The available hatch pattern options are the same, regardless of the pattern type selected.
  4. Optionally, you can specify a background color for hatch patterns. Under Hatch Pattern Background, select Add solid background and then click to select a color from the Color dialog.

To change all the values in the table back to {Automatically generate hatch patterns}, click Reset All.

Hatch pattern too dense

If a hatch pattern is not visible in the exported DWG file, and the message "Hatch Pattern Too Dense" displays in the AutoCAD text window, try adjusting the AutoCAD system variable HPMAXLINES to increase the maximum number of hatch lines that are generated in a hatch operation. For more information, see the AutoCAD Help.
