Select a fabrication part and use controls to make modifications.
Select a fabrication part and use the Type Selector to swap the current part for a different one. For example, for ductwork, you may want to switch a radius bend to a square bend.
When you select a fabrication part and click
(Expand Modify Tools), the following tools are available in the drawing area for modifying the position of a fabrication part:
-
Flip Fabrication Part: rotates a tap 180 degrees around a branch connector.
-
Toggle Connector: toggles the connector. Toggling the connector modifies which connector is oriented to the selected connection location.
-
Rotate Counterclockwise /
Rotate Clockwise: rotates a round fitting, tap, or in-line equipment when it is connected to another part.
-
Edit Rotation Angle: edits the angle of rotation. Click the value for the angle in the rotate control. To reset the fitting to its default angle of rotation, in a 3D view, click Align to plan, and in all other views, click Align to view plane.
Use the following tools to optimize a run to reposition or eliminate short straights:
-
Reposition Part: swaps the selected segment with the straight segment at the other the end of the run to optimize fabrication.
-
Adjust Extension: changes the extension length of a duct fitting or incorporate short straight duct segments into adjacent fittings. Use the Adjust Extension control to improve the constructability of a duct run.
Drag the triangle control to adjust the length of the duct fitting extension. The stretch length is controlled by the Minimum/Maximum Stretch Length setting in the Item Properties for the fabrication part. For more information, see
Item Properties Dialog in the Autodesk Fabrication product Help. Drag the control beyond the length of an adjacent short straight to merge the short straight with the fitting.
Note: For transitions and offsets, dragging the triangle control will stretch the length of the whole part, rather than the length of the extension. Press the Shift key while dragging the control to stretch the extension only.
