Before you can export fabrication linear nest data from
Revit, you must set up linear nest data.
Select fabrication parts in the drawing area and use a wizard to select from a list of predefined fields. Detailed linear nest information can be generated and exported to CSV files. These files can be easily imported into other external database or spreadsheet programs.
- Click Modify | MEP Fabrication Ductwork tabOutput panelFabrication Exports and click Set Up Linear Nest Data Export.
- In the Export Data Wizard (Linear Nest Information) dialog, to Create a New Export format, click Next.
Alternatively, you can specify an existing format that you previously saved.
- In the left column, select the linear nest data fields you want to export and click the right arrow to move them to the column on the right.
- Highlight a field on the right and click the up and down arrows to reorder the data fields.
- Click Next.
- Specify the criteria that the data must meet in order to be exported.
- Click Next.
- Specify whether you want to save this format for future use.
- Click Next.
- Specify a filename and format for the output.
The following format options are available:
Output Filename
- Specify Filename: Enter the name for the export file.
- Use Drawing Name + Extension: Uses the current drawing name for the export file.
Output File Format
- Comma Delimited Text (*.TXT): Can be opened by most spreadsheet/database applications. See Text Delimiter Character options.

- Click Finish to export the linear nest data.
