Serious Error when Clicking on the Structural Connection Settings in Revit

You may encounter a serious error warning when you click on the structural connection settings in Revit if a preview release of Revit (Beta) is not fully removed prior to the installation of a regular Revit build.

To clear this behavior:

  1. Close REVIT 20xx.
  2. Go to Control Panel Uninstall a product.
  3. Search for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express Local DB application.
  4. Right-click on it and Uninstall it.
  5. Clean up the TEMP folder:
    1. Type %TEMP% in the Windows Start Menu - Run box or Search box and press Enter.
    2. Delete all the files.
    3. Ignore the files that cannot be deleted.
  6. Go to this folder: C:\Users\[ current user ]\AppData\Local\Microsoft.
  7. If you find the folder Microsoft SQL Server Local DB rename it. Add _OLD to its name, for example.
  8. Download "SqlLocalDB.msi" from Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 Service Pack 3 (SP3) Express: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=57473.
  9. Reinstall the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express Local DB.
  10. Go to Control Panel Uninstall a product.
  11. Search for "Autodesk Steel Connections for REVIT 20xx".
  12. Right-click on it and Uninstall it.
  13. Reinstall "Autodesk Steel Connections for REVIT 20xx".
