You may encounter a serious error warning when you click on the structural connection settings in Revit if a preview release of Revit (Beta) is not fully removed prior to the installation of a regular Revit build.
To clear this behavior:
- Close REVIT 20xx.
- Go to Control Panel Uninstall a product.
- Search for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express Local DB application.
- Right-click on it and Uninstall it.
- Clean up the TEMP folder:
- Type %TEMP% in the Windows Start Menu - Run box or Search box and press Enter.
- Delete all the files.
- Ignore the files that cannot be deleted.
- Go to this folder: C:\Users\[ current user ]\AppData\Local\Microsoft.
- If you find the folder Microsoft SQL Server Local DB rename it. Add _OLD to its name, for example.
- Download "SqlLocalDB.msi" from Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 Service Pack 3 (SP3) Express:

- Reinstall the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express Local DB.
- Go to Control Panel Uninstall a product.
- Search for "Autodesk Steel Connections for REVIT 20xx".
- Right-click on it and Uninstall it.
- Reinstall "Autodesk Steel Connections for REVIT 20xx".
