Learn how to use temporary dimensions as you place and move elements in the model.
Temporary dimensions in Revit LT are displayed as you model. The temporary dimension help you position elements in the model relative to one another.
Change the position of the temporary dimension witness lines with the controls. Make sure the temporary dimensions are measuring to other elements in the model that are important to the context of the element being edited. Change the value of a temporary dimension to move the selected element.

When placing elements, temporary dimensions display to establish where an element is located in relation to other elements in the project.
The zoom level of the view affects the snap increments of the temporary dimensions. If you use the keyboard to directly enter a distance value while placing an element, the temporary dimension is set to this value.
If you select an element in the drawing area, temporary dimensions display showing the relationship to other elements. Witness lines can be changed by clicking and dragging the control on the witness line. The witness line will snap to other positions. You can press the Tab key to cycle to additional selection candidates.
In this case, the Tab key is used to highlight the wall faces rather than the centerline. Click the dimension value to bring it to focus and enter a new dimension. The element is moved to the new position.
Click the dimension icon of a temporary dimension to change it to a permanent dimension in the view.
