Create an instance of a family type in the project, or change the family type for an existing element.
To add an element
- In a project, do one of the following:
- On the appropriate tab of the ribbon, click the element to create. In the Type Selector, select the desired family type.
- Select the family type in the Project Browser, and drag it to the drawing area.
- Select the family type in the Project Browser, right-click, and click Create Instance.
- On the Options Bar, specify any necessary values or selections.
- In the drawing area, click to place the element.
To change the family type of existing elements
You can change an element to use another family type within the same category.
- Open a view that displays the elements to change.
- Do one of the following:
- In the view, select one or more elements belonging to the same category. In the Type Selector, select the desired family type.
- In the Project Browser, select the desired family type, right-click, and click Match. In the drawing area, select each element to change its type.
- Click Modify tabClipboard panel (Match Type Properties). In the view, select the element whose type you want to match. Then select elements to apply that type to.
