Learn about FileIO preferences in VRED.
Please note, there may be differences between your version of VRED and the video. See the video captions below for updated instructions.
For additional information on FileIO preferences, see FileIO Preferences (Reference).
Video captions: Select Preferences from the Edit menu. Select File IO. Here you're able to adjust global settings in order to determine which standard process should be used for opening data. In order to edit the VRED standard format, VPB default settings, select the OSB/VPB item.
Now, click the Export tab and select a file compression. The file format has been optimized in order to accelerate the compression several times in comparison to past versions. For this reason, our suggested setting for File Compression is Best. This enables the fastest saving time with a minimal file size.
With this, you can also define how used textures are treated. When Use Inline Textures is activated, textures will be saved in the VRED file. Here, a texture compression can be selected. None or Lossless is recommended. If not activated, only the texture path will be saved and images are always reloaded when opening the scene.
To load Maya data, go to the Maya preference option. In the Import tab, to set the Maya installation table in the Maya Directory field.
