Learn about line contour and how to clone them when raytracing in VRED.
Video captions: Open Interaction in the main menu bar and select Clipping. For detailed information on the topic of clipping, take a look at the tutorial, Clipping Plane. Access the Scenegraph with the main menu or Quick Access Bar. Activate clipping by selecting Enable Clipping. Via Show Contour, the contours can be displayed and cloned in the following. Run the command, Clone, to clone the sliced contour. Autodesk VRED creates a clone of the contour defined by the clipping plane. Open the Material Editor with the aid of the Quick Access Bar. Create a new plastic material and change the color to a reddish color tone. Assign the materials, via drag and drop, to your cloned contour. Open the Raytracing section of the plastic material. Alter the value under Line Tube Radius as you please. As you can see, the radius of the cloned geometry changes. Move the contour in the direction of the Y axis. For demonstration purposes, we apply a chrome material to the cloned contour. Select the plastic material and call up the Material Editor context menu and convert the material to a chrome material.
