Configure your purge preferences for files assigned to a lifecycle definition to help manage Vault file retention.
Note: This feature is available in Autodesk Vault Workgroup and Professional. While the lifecycle definitions apply to multiple entities, the control preferences only apply to Vault files.
Configure Control Preferences
- Click
Tools Administration Vault Settings.
- In the Vault Settings dialog box click the Behaviors tab Lifecycles.
- In the
Lifecycle Definition
dialog box, select the name of the lifecycle definition, and then click
Edit. The selected definition name appears in the title bar.
- From the Lifecycle States grid, select the state that you would like to edit and click the Control tab.
- Select the This is a Released State check box if this state is released.
Note: The system will always retain at least one version of a file with a released state.
- Select the This is an Obsolete State check box if this state is obsolete.
- Select one of the following options:
- All No versions in this state are removed when a purge is performed. This option is recommended for states where not many versions are created or where each version is critical.
- First and Last All versions in this state are removed during a purge, except the first and last version in each series. Use this option for states where the changes between the first and last file are useful.
- Last All versions in this state are removed during a purge, except the last version in each series. This option is recommended for states where a record that the file was in the state is important.
- None No version in this state will be retained after the purge has been performed, except versions will be retained if they are consumed by a parent file.
Important:
No record of the file being in this state will exist after the purge.
- Check the Include existing files versions box to apply purge restriction for lifecycle states for existing versions of files.
Note: If this box is not checked then the purge version control settings apply only to new file versions.
- Click OK to save the changes and close the dialog.
