The lifecycle of a Vault object is determined by the category to which it is assigned. When a category is selected in the Configure Categories dialog box, the assigned lifecycles are listed on the Lifecycles tab in the Behaviors group.
- Click Tools Administration Vault Settings
- In the Vault Settings dialog box, select the Behaviors tab and click Categories.
- On the Configure Categories dialog box, select the Vault object type for which you want to see categories. For example, select File Category to see categories available for Files.
- Select a category to which you want to assign a lifecycle from the Category Name list.
- Select the Lifecycles tab if it is not selected.
- Select the Lifecycle that you want to assign to the selected category and click Assign.
- In the Assign Category dialog box, do one of the following:
- Add –A lifecycle definition to the category. Select the lifecycle definition from the All Lifecycles Definitions list on the left and click Add.
- Remove–A lifecycle definition from the category. Select the lifecycle definition from the Assigned Lifecycle Definitions list and click Remove.
- Default–Set the default lifecycle for the Category. Select a lifecycle in the Assigned Lifecycle Definitions list and click Default.
- Click OK. The Configure Categories dialog box is then updated.
Note: If a category only has one lifecycle definition assigned to it and the lifecycle is not <None>, then that lifecycle definition becomes the default definition. This lifecycle definition cannot be removed from this category until a new lifecycle definition is assigned as the default.
