Attach a Library

Use Attach to reattach a library database file to the SQL server hosting the libraries.

Access the server console:

• On the local machine if the Content Center libraries are installed locally.
• On the remote server if the Content Center libraries are being hosted by a remote server.

You must be a Content Center Editor to make edits to Content Center libraries in Autodesk Inventor.

You must be a Content Center Administrator to perform Content Center administrative task in the server console.

Basic Library Attachment

If the library data file (.mdf) and the associated log file are both located in the SQL data folder, use these steps to attach the library:

1. In the navigation pane, right-click the Libraries folder and then select Attach Library.
2. In the Attach Library dialog, select the Basic tab.
3. The Available Data Files box lists the currently detached libraries. Select the library .mdf file to attach to the SQL server.
4. Enter a display name for the library in the Library Name field.
5. Click OK.

Advanced Library Attachment

If the library data file (.mdf) and the associated log file are both not located in the SQL data folder, use these steps to attach the library:

1. In the navigation pane, right-click on the Libraries folder and then select Attach Library.
2. In the Attach Library dialog, select the Advanced Tab.
3. Enter the name of the data file to attach in the Data File field or click the browse button to browse the server for the data file (.mdf).
4. Enter the name of the transaction log file associated with the data file in the Log File field or click the browse button to browse the server for the transaction log file (.ldf).
5. Enter a display name for the library in the Library Name field.
6. Click OK.
