Edit Lifecycle State Security for Files Inside Folders

Apply folder state security to the files inside the folder, customize the security for the files inside a folder, or clear security overrides on the files inside a folder.

When Lifecycle state security is propagated to the files in a folder, the object-based security on the files is not affected.

  1. In the Lifecycle Definition dialog box, select the state from the Lifecycle States list.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Select the Security for files inside folders check box to propagate folder security to the files inside it.
  4. Click Configure.
  5. On the Security for Files Inside Folder dialog, select one of the following actions from the drop-down:
    • Apply folder's state security to its files

When selected, the Access Control List (ACL) settings for a folder in this state are also applied to the files inside the folder.

    • Apply custom security to files inside the folder

When selected, administrators can set an ACL for the files in a folder that is different from the ACL applied to the folder in this state.

    • Clear security override from files inside the folder

When selected, if there is a current override ACL on the files inside a folder, the security override is removed from the files when the folder enters this state.

    • If you selected Apply custom security to files inside the folder, add or remove members and roles, and configure permissions.
    • Click OK to save your changes and return to editing state security.
