BOM data can be saved to a file to be analyzed or formatted in other applications. You can create specialized reports in Microsoft Excel or in other applications that read the comma-separated vales (.csv) file format for custom reports and printouts.
The BOM can be saved in either:
- The tree view layout with each instance of an item being a unique row.
- The flat layout with re-used items rolled up into a single instance with a total quantity.
The default file type is Excel (.xls).
Save a BOM View
- In the item master, double-click an item.
- In the item record, select the Bill of Materials tab.
- Select either the tree view layout or the flat view layout for the BOM list.
- On the BOM Edit toolbar, click Save BOM View. The Save As dialog box is displayed.
- Select the directory in which to save the file.
- Select either the Microsoft Excel file format or comma-separated values (.csv).
- Enter a name for the file.
- Click Save.
Note: All rows in the tree view layout are saved, whether or not the rows are collapsed.
