Seismic Dispositions According to IS 13920:1993 for Reinforced Concrete

Use this dialog to check that the structure meets the IS 13920:1993 standard requirements, and that it can undergo earthquakes without collapsing.

Access

Remember: Ensure that you are using the RC environment, and that you have selected the IS 456 : 2000 standard before you follow the instructions below.
Tip: If you haven't already, you can select the IS 456 : 2000 from the Job Preferences dialog.
  1. Click RC Element New Column , or RC Element New Beam .
  2. Click Analysis Calculation Options, and then click Seismic in the Calculation Options dialog.

Dialog elements

Seismic zone
Select the seismic zone in which the structure is located.
Note: Select zone III, IV, or V to access the other options of the dialog.
Number of stories
Select a number of stories for the structure.
Note: If the building includes more than three stories, the minimum grade of concrete is checked.
Calculation options
Select the options that you want to include in the calculations:
  • Consider plastic hinges shear force.
  • Column under discontinued walls (7.4.4).
  • Column with significant variation of stiffness along its height (7.4.5).
  • Frame joint satisfies the conditions point (8.2).
