Click Fire in the Member definition - parameters dialog to determine the fire rating parameters of a timber member type.
The following member parameters related to fire rating can be defined:
- Section protection (less or more than 1/4 of an hour),
- Section position (part of the section exposed to fire),
- The time of required resistance,
- Section protection (less or more than 1/4 of an hour),
- Surface protection. The total time of fire calculation = time of required fire resistance - surface protection. If the time of surface protection is greater or equal to the time of required fire resistance, then the total time is equal or less than zero, meaning that the section is entirely protected against fire.
- Additional protection of section sides (select the sides of the section that receive such protection).
If a timber section constitutes a double section, then the space along the entire beam/column length between this section is protected.
Note: Calculations taking fire impact into account will be performed if Calculations recognizing the possibility of fire impact is selected in the Configuration dialog.
