About Alignment Label Styles

Manage alignment label styles by specifying which label styles to use when you create alignment label sets, as well as which styles to use with the Add Alignment Labels command.

In Toolspace, on the Settings tab, the Alignment collection contains the Label Styles collection. The Label Styles collection contains sub-folders for labels sets, individual types of alignment labels, and alignment table styles. You can right-click a specific type of alignment label, such as for major chainages and minor chainages, and either edit the default label settings or create a label style.

The types of alignment label styles that you can create and use:

Use this type of alignment label style...

To label...

Major Chainage

Chainages at major intervals, which use the default format of sta = <chainage> <units>. For example, sta = 1000 ft.

Minor Chainage

Chainages at intervals that divide the major chainages. To add minor chainage labels, you must have major chainage labels.

Geometry Point

Locations at which alignment geometry changes, which use the default format of <Geometry point>: <chainage>. For example, CS: 3+27+65.

Profile Geometry Point

Locations of profile points on the alignment geometry.

Chainage Equation

Points added on the Chainage Control tab of the Alignment Properties dialog box.

Design Speeds

Points added on the Design Speeds tab of the Alignment Properties dialog box.

Superelevation Critical Points

Chainages at which the superelevation crossfall changes.

Cant Critical Points Chainages at which the amount of applied cant changes.

Chainage Offset

A point either on or adjacent to an alignment that lists chainage and offset information from the alignment to the point picked.

Line

Properties of a line element within an alignment object.

Curve

Properties of a curve element within an alignment object.

Transition

Properties of a transition element within an alignment object.

Intersection Point

Properties of a straight-straight intersection (IP) and either the associated free curve or free Transition-Curve-Transition (TCT) group. This label type can also be applied to either individual curve or transition elements (even within an TCT group).

Cant Information

Cant information for a rail alignment such as applied cant, equilibrium cant, cant deficiency and cant gradient.

To change the label type defaults, right-click the <Label Type> collection on the Settings tree in Toolspace and select Edit Label Style Defaults.
