To Work With Flow Path Segments

To create flow path segments

When a flow path is initially created, it is created with the number of flow segments defined in the Catchment Settings. The Create Flow Segments command enables you to divide a flow path into more segments.

  1. If you have not done so already, create a catchment from a surface or from an object.
  2. In Toolspace, on the Prospector tab, expand the Catchments collection <catchment group> <catchment name>.
  3. Right-click Flow Path Create Flow Segments.
  4. Select the flow segment start point in the drawing. This must be a point on the existing flow path for the catchment. After the point is selected, a row is added to the Flow Path vista.
  5. Use the Flow Segments vista to specify the data for the flow path segment.

To edit flow path segments

Use the Flow Path Vista to edit flow segments for the catchment area.

A flow path can have up to three flow segments of each flow type. Although the catchment and flow path do not update dynamically based on a surface, you can use the Flow Path Vista to change the surface used to calculate the flow path slope.

  1. In Toolspace, on the Prospector tab, expand the Catchments collection <catchment group> <catchment name>.
  2. Right-click a flow path Edit Flow Segments.
  3. Use the Flow Segments vista to edit the flow path segments.
  4. Review the calculated Time of Concentration (Tc). If the calculated Tc is less than the minimum required, you can set the Time of Concentration Method for the catchment to a user-defined value by editing the Catchment Properties.
