Chooses the exposure control to use, and provides a preview.
- Drop-down list
- Choose the exposure control to use.
Note: When using an OCIO-based mode for color management, the tone map is provided by the view transform. You should use
<no exposure control>, or if you also need to adjust the global exposure level then you can instead use
Linear Exposure Control and adjust
Exposure Value or
Physical Scale. Other options give incorrect results because a second tone map gets applied after the view transform.
- Active
- When on, the exposure control is used in rendering. When off, the exposure control is not applied. Default=on.
- Process Background and Environment Maps
- When on, the scene background and environment maps are subjected to exposure control. When off, they are not. Default=off.
- Preview thumbnail
- The thumbnail displays a preview of the rendered scene with the active exposure control applied. Once a preview has been rendered, it updates interactively as you change exposure control settings.
If gamma correction is active, 3ds Max applies the correction to this preview thumbnail.
Note: When using an OCIO-based mode for color management, the thumbnail is misleading because it does not apply the view and display transforms.
- Render Preview
- Click to render the preview thumbnail.
