Export Active as Subdiv

Saves one or more selected subdivision bodies to a .obj file or .tss T-Spline file. When you save an Alias subdivision object or a SpeedForm T-Spline object to an OBJ file, you can easy exchange these objects between the applications.

Note: You can also import subdivision bodies using the .fbx file format. See Export Active As.

Export Subdiv Options

OBJ

Exports the selected subdivision bodies as an .obj file.Note:

When exchanging subdivision models between Alias and Maya using OBJ, be aware that:

  • G0 crease added by the Subdivision Crease Edge tool are not supported by Maya.

  • Variable creases created in Maya display as uncreased edges in Alias.

TSS

Exports the selected subdivision bodies as a .tss T-Spline file.

The T-Spline file format maintains crease information and can be imported into other Autodesk products such as Dynamo, Fusion, and Speedform.

Export Active as Subdiv workflow

Save subdivision objects to a .obj or .tss file.

  1. Select the subdivision objects you want to export.
  2. Choose File > Export > Active as Subdiv .
  3. In the Export Subdiv Options window select one of the following:
    • OBJ to save to a .obj file. Crease information will not be preserved.
    • TSS to save to a .tss T-Spline file. Crease information will be preserved.
