Detach
Separates a curve or surface into two or more objects at any point.
Access this tool from the Object Edit tool palette:
Detach Options
Keep Originals
On – Keep the original object in addition to the new, detached objects.
Off – Delete the original object after the Detach operation is complete.
Detach workflows
Use the Detach tool to split a surface into multiple surfaces, or split a curve into multiple curves.
Select the tool.
Click the curve or surface.
Drag the locator to the position at which you want to split the object.
To split at additional points, click the curve or surface to create another locator.
To remove a locator,
-click it.Click Go.
