Symmetry Plane Align

Aligns an object with its mirrored half across the symmetry plane.

Symmetry Plane Align Options

Project For Position

When this option is checked on (default), the tool modifies the object to be position continuous with its mirror hlaf across the symmetry plane, as well as tangent continuous.

When checked off, if the object does not touch its mirror half across the symmetry plane, the tool modifies only the object’s tangent, but does not attempt to make it touch the plane.

Symmetry Plane Align workflow

How to reshape a curve, surface, or subdivision body so it achieves tangent continuity with its mirrored half on the other side of the symmetry plane.

Note: The symmetry plane for a given layer is set through Layers > Symmetry > Set Plane.
  1. Select the Symmetry Plane Align tool .

  2. Click the curve, surface, or subdivision body you want to align with its mirrored half.

The Symmetry Plane Align tool modifies the curve, surface, or subdivision body to have tangent continuity with its mirrored half.

Note: If an object and its mirror half do not touch on the symmetry plane, ensure that the Project For Position option is turned on if you want the Symmetry Plane Align tool to also modify the object to have position continuity with its mirror half.
