Creates a surface based on sections or polygons.
Access this tool from the Surface Edit tool palette:

Fit Scan Control settings
Z Axis, Y Axis, X Axis – Sets the axis along which you want to fit your surface to scan or polygonal data.
Surface Normal – Fits the surface to scan or polygonal data along the normal of the surface.
Window Normal – Fits the surface to scan or polygonal data along the normal of your current window.
Specifies proximity limitations for the scan data that is considered by the Fit Scan command. If the value is set to 0, then the Fit Scan tool considers all points in the scan data. If the value is greater than 0, then the Fit Scan tool does not consider any scan data beyond the limitation value.Note: The Proximity limit option is available only with Autodesk Alias 2019.2 or later.
Creates an output surface based on the degree, spans, and knots of the input surface. Note: The Match Surface option is available only with Autodesk Alias 2019.2 or later.
When Match Surface is unchecked, specifies the degree of the new surface in the U and V directions.
When Match Surface is unchecked, specifies the number of spans of the new surface in the U and V directions.
Automatically updates the surface when you adjust the Fit Scan settings.
Displays the maximum deviation between the new surface and the original section/polygonal data.
Specifies whether or not the Fit Scan tool creates history metadata. Note: The Create Metadata option is available only with Autodesk Alias 2019.2 or later.
Shows the original surface after creating the new fitted surface.
Fit Scan workflows
Shift-select the Fit Scan tool icon:

Ctrl-click on the scan data to position the four corners of the surface to fit, and then click Build.

To modify the surface, change settings in the Fit Scan Control window and click Update.
Automatically reshape an existing surface to match section or polygonal scan data.
Create a surface on the scan data.
For example, use the Square tool to snap the corners of a surface to the corners of the scan data. Usually you will want to limit the surface to an area with little change in curvature.
Shift-select the Fit Scan tool icon:

Select the surface to fit and click Accept.
Select the scan data for reference and click Build.
To modify the surface, change settings in the Fit Scan Control window and click Update.
