To Create or Edit a Block Template (BLK) File

  1. Click Output tabPlot panelBatch Plot. Find
  2. In the Publish dialog box, click the Publish To drop-down list and choose DWF or DWFx.
  3. Under Publish Options Information, click Publish Options.
  4. In the DWF Publish Options dialog box, under the DWF Data Options section, click the Block Information field and choose Include from the drop-down list.
  5. Click the Block Template File field and do one of the following:
    • Create a new block template - Choose Create from the drop-down list.

      The Publish Block Template dialog box opens with the current drawing included in the Block Source Drawing area.

    • Edit an existing block template - Choose Edit from the drop-down list. In the Select Block Template dialog box, select the Block Template (BLK) file you want to edit and then click Select.
  6. In the Publish Block Template dialog box, under Drawing Source Drawings, include the drawing files that contain the block properties you want to publish with the DWF or DWFx files.
    • Click Add to display the Select Drawings dialog box and specify additional source drawings.
    • Select a drawing file and click Remove to remove it from the listing of source drawings.
    Note: The working set of drawings in the Block Source Drawing list is independent from the drawings to be published.
  7. Click Scan for Blocks.

    All drawing files listed in the Block Source Drawings list are scanned for unique block definitions and their associated properties and attributes.

    Note: By default, block settings for nested blocks and blocks in xrefs are included. If you don't want to include these block settings, click Options in the Publish Block Template dialog box and clear the related options.
  8. Under Block Data to Publish, do the following:
    • Under Unique Blocks From Source Drawings, select the block names to include in the published DWF or DWFx files.
    • Under Check Properties to Publish, select the properties to include in the published DWF or DWFx files.

      This list displays the unique properties of all selected blocks.

      Note: If you select a block from the block list and clear all its properties, only the name of the block is published to the resultant DWF or DWFx files; no property information is included.
    Tip: Right-click in either list to select or clear all check boxes.
  9. Click Save to save the changes to the block template file. If a new block template file was created, specify a name and location for the file.
  10. In the DWF Publish Options dialog box, click OK to save the changes to the publish options.
  11. In the Publish dialog box, continue specifying settings and layouts. Then click Publish to publish the selected layouts.
