Workspaces are used to control the display of user interface elements in the program.
You can control the display of the following user interface elements with a workspace:
- Quick Access toolbar
- Ribbon tabs
- Palettes
- Toolbars
- Pull-down menus
- Menu, status, or navigation bars
- Model and layout tabs
Quick Access Toolbar
You can control the display of the Quick Access toolbar by setting
- Which Quick Access toolbar is displayed when the workspace is set current
- Where the Quick Access toolbar is placed in relation to the ribbon
Ribbon Panels and Tabs
You can control the display of ribbon panels and tabs on the ribbon by setting
- Which ribbon tabs are part of the workspace and displayed by default when it is set current
- How the ribbon panels assigned to a ribbon tab are displayed and oriented, and the order in which they are resized when the application window is resized
Palettes
You can control the display of the palettes by setting
- Which palettes are displayed when the workspace is set current
- What location, dock state, transparency, and size at which palettes are displayed
Toolbars and Pull-down Menus
You can control the display of toolbars and pull-down menus by setting
- Which toolbars and pull-down menus are displayed when the workspace is set current
- What dock state, location, and undocked number of rows at which toolbars are displayed
- Where menus are located on the menu bar
Menu, Status and Navigation Bars, and the Model/Layout Tabs
In addition to controlling user interface elements, workspaces control
- Whether the Model or last named layout is current when a drawing is opened
- The display of the menu bar
- The display of the status bar
- The display of the navigation bar
- The display of the layout tabs along the bottom of the drawing window
