- Insert a component from the icon menu or edit a schematic component symbol on your drawing.
The Insert/Edit Component dialog box displays so you can assign component-specific information to the new component.
- In the Insert/Edit Component dialog box, Catalog Data section, click Lookup to choose a vendor part number to assign to this instance of the component.
The WDBLKNAM field in the family table is used as the first filter when opening the catalog lookup window for the selection of catalog numbers. This filter is on by default and removes invalid selections from the catalog lookup window.
- Perform a search:
- If the component already has a catalog value assigned, a search is performed automatically using the 2nd, 4th, and 5th fields of the current catalog value.
- If the catalog is blank and a search criteria is defined in the _LISTBOX_DEF catalog database table for the component's category, a search is performed automatically.
- Select a previous search from the Search drop-down list.
- Enter a search criteria and click . OR and "Exact Phrase" expressions are supported.
Note: A search is performed only on the fields that are displayed in the browser.
- Change the results display:
- To reorder the columns, click a column heading and drag it to the desired position in the grid display.
- To change the columns displayed, right-click on a column header and check the columns to display, uncheck the columns you want to hide.
- To resize a column, drag the column header boundary line.
- To freeze a column, right-click on the column header and click Freeze column. When you scroll, all columns to the left of the frozen column remain visible.
- To reset the columns, right-click on a column header and click Restore all columns to default.
Note: Changing the display does not affect the catalog database, only the way the catalog records are displayed.
- Click the catalog value to assign to the component.
- Click OK.
Note: If you insert a symbol directly from the Catalog Browser, the catalog value is assigned automatically.
