Scale Area Dialog Box (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

Use this dialog box to set a scale factor for a scale area, or change the basic scale factor for model space.

Scale and type of scaling

Scale

Specify the scale for the scale area or viewport. You can select a preset value, or enter any desired scale.

Note: For example, to specify a scale of 3:1, enter 3:1 or 3.0 (which is converted to 3:1).

<

Temporarily reverts to the drawing. You can select a scale defining entity (for example, another scale area, a dimension, or a scale text) to set the scale of the area you are editing.

Length Scaling

Sets the length scaling factor. It defines the ratio between drawn length and real length. For example, with a length scaling of 2.0, a line of 100 units is dimensioned as a line of 200 units.

Text Scaling

Sets the text scaling factor: This setting defines the dimension text height, symbol sizes, and table sizes. For example, with a text scaling of 2.0, the dimension text height is doubled in size.

Automatic View Creation in

Creates a viewport using the same scale you used in the scale area. In this viewport, all text heights and symbols sizes appear in the right size.

Layout List

Selects a layout for the viewport. You cannot create viewports in more than one layout.
