LiveView Exercise: Editing a Palette Color Map

In this exercise, you see how different palette color maps assist the visual analysis of a DEM.

Note: The Getting Started Guide sample files can be downloaded from https://www.autodesk.com/raster_design_getting_started_guide. Download and extract the sample files onto your workstation to use them in this exercise.
To edit a palette color map

Open the LiveView_ColorMap.dwg sample file.

A terrain map is displayed that shows several different colors. In the next few steps, you will see the color map that shows how to interpret these colors.

If the Image Manager toolspace is not open, on the ribbon, click Raster Tools tab Manage & View panel Manage.

In Image Manager, select the Image Insertions view from the drop-down list.

In the Image Insertions view, expand the LiveView_ColorMap node, right-click the image name and choose Edit Color Map.

In the Palette Assignment Color Map dialog box, click to edit the color map.

In the Palette Color Map Definition dialog box, in the Range Table, note that each color on the map represents an elevation range of 26.387 m.

Click OK to close the dialog box.

In the Palette Assignment Color Map dialog box, select Slope Color Map from the drop-down list, and then click Apply.

The colors on the map now show ranges of ground slope values.

7 Click to view the Range Table for this color map. Note that each color represents a slope range of 7 degrees.

Further exploration: In the Palette Color Map Definition dialog box for a color map, change the Value Distribution from Equal to Quantile, click OK, then click Apply.
