There are two ways in which data can be imported from a SWMM5 text file into a
SWMM network:
- Using the Network's menu Import
Model from SWMM5 text file option to import the data to
SWMM
network objects and
model parameters.
- By importing the following
database items:
- SWMM Pollutograph
- SWMM Time Patterns
- SWMM Run
- SWMM Climatology
- Events - Rainfall, Levels, Inflows, and Regulators
- Label lists
- Selection lists
- Model group - when importing as a model group, data will be imported to
SWMM
network objects and
model parameters as well as the database items listed previously provided the relevant data is contained in the SWMM5 text file.
The same SWMM5 text file can be used as input for both import methods.
For details of importing database items, see the
Working with Database Items topic.
Note: To ensure that map data is imported correctly, the [MAP] Units must be set to feet in the SWMM5 text file.
To import network data from a SWMM5 text file to
ICM
SWMM network objects, model parameters and database items:
- Open the
SWMM network to be updated.
- Select Import
Model
from SWMM5 text file from the Network menu, and a Windows File Open dialog is displayed.
In this dialog:
- Enter the path to the text file to be imported in the File name box.
- From the Encoding dropdown list, select which encoding system is used in the text files to be imported. Currently supported systems are ANSI, UTF-8 (default) and UTF-8 BOM.
- Click OK to import the SWMM5 data.
When the import process is complete, a log file, which contains any conversion errors or warnings, is displayed.
Note: The importer supports SWMM5 EPA release v5.1.014.
For details of the SWMM5 data sections imported and conversions made by the importer using either import method, see the
SWMM5 Conversion Notes (SWMM) topic.
