Component Derive

This command provides a streamlined Derive Component workflow within an existing assembly.

To create a derived component

1. On the ribbon, click Assemble tab Productivity panel Component Derive .
2. Click to select the component to derive into a new component.
3. In the Create Part or Create Assembly dialog box, enter a name for the new component.
4. Click Save to create the new component and close the dialog box.

   You are placed into a new file that was derived from the selected file, and you can edit the newly created derived component.

This command generates the derived part or assembly using default options, except for assembly representations: the command uses the active model state, design view and positional representations in the derivation.
