To Work with Ejectors

Create an ejector pin to eject a plastic part

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click Ejector.
  2. In the Ejector dialog box, select Eject Plastic Part.
  3. Under Type, select an ejector pin from the drop-down list.
  4. Click Plastic Part and then in the graphics window, select a part. The Place Ejectors button is automatically selected.
  5. In the graphics window, select one or more locations for placing ejector pins.
  6. Optionally, select Align Ejectors to specify a rotation angle value. Select a plane, face, or edge to define the angle reference.
  7. Extend the Ejector dialog box to view the list of ejectors, and to edit the coordinate system.
  8. Click Edit Coordinate System to select the part or mold coordinate system as the reference coordinate system.
    • Select a vertex, work point, or UCS to define the origin.
    • Click the X or Y of the coordinate system display and then an edge or work axis to realign the X or Y.
    • Optionally, right-click and select Flip Axis to change the Z axis orientation.
  9. In the Ejectors list edit the X and Y coordinates and optionally the Angle value.
  10. In the table under the image of the ejector pin, select values for parameters from the drop-down list.
  11. On the Clearance tab, enter values in the table to set the ejector pin clearance.
  12. On the Design tab, select the Anti-rotation check box. The Anti-rotation tab is enabled.
  13. In the Anti-rotation tab, set the anti-rotation type and parameter values.
  14. Click Apply or OK.

Create an ejector pin to eject a runner system

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click Ejector.
  2. In the Ejector dialog box, select Eject Runner System.
  3. Under Type, select an ejector pin from the drop-down list.
  4. In the graphics window, select one or more locations on a runner sketch to place the ejector pins.
  5. Extend the Ejector dialog box to view the list of ejectors, and then edit the X and Y coordinates.
  6. In the table under the image of the ejector pin,in the drop-down list, specify values for parameters .
  7. In the Clearance tab, enter values in the table to set the ejector pin clearance.
  8. On the Design tab, select the Anti-rotation check box. The Anti-rotation tab is enabled.
  9. In the Anti-rotation tab, set the anti-rotation type and parameter values.
  10. Click Apply or OK.

Create an ejector sleeve

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click Ejector.
  2. In Type, select an ejector sleeve in the drop-down list.
    Note: After opening the list, select Ejector Sleeve in the Category drop-down list.
  3. Click Plastic Part and then in the graphics window, select a part. The Place Ejectors button is automatically selected.
  4. In the graphics window, select one or more locations for placing ejector pins.
  5. Extend the Ejector dialog box to view the list of ejector sleeves, and then edit the X and Y coordinates.
  6. In the table under the image of the ejector sleeve, in the drop-down list, specify values for parameters.
  7. Select the Include Center Pin check box.
    Note: Not all ejector sleeves have a suitable center pin. If there is no suitable center pin to match the ejector sleeve, the Include Center Pin check box is disabled.
  8. On the Clearance tab, enter values in the table to specify the ejector sleeve clearance.
  9. On the Design tab, select the Anti-rotation check box. The Anti-rotation tab is enabled.
  10. On the Anti-rotation tab, set the anti-rotation type and parameter values.
  11. Click Apply or OK.

Edit an ejector

  1. In the Mold Design browser, under Ejecting Components, right-click an Ejector Pin Group node, and then click Edit Feature.
  2. In the Ejector dialog box, modify the parameters or the coordinate system.
  3. Click OK.
