To Generate a 2-D Drawing

The 2-D Drawing command creates one or more drawing documents. If drawing documents all have the same drawing setting, you can create a drawing group and specify a sheet format for it.

Create a drawing document with the drawing group setting

  1. On the Mold Assembly tab, click 2-D Drawing.
  2. In the 2-D Drawing dialog box, click Drawing filter.
  3. In the Drawing Filter dialog box, select a group from the Filter Group Names list.
  4. Click Drawing settings.
  5. In the Drawing Settings dialog box, specify the required settings.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the Drawing Filter dialog box, click Apply or OK.
  8. In the 2-D Drawing dialog box, select the check boxes next to the components in the Names column of the table.
  9. Click Apply or OK.

Create a drawing document with automatic layout

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click 2-D Drawing.
  2. In the 2-D Drawing dialog box, select a component group in the drop-down Drawing List.
  3. Select the check boxes next to the required components in the Names column of the table.
  4. To specify the drawing template for a component:
    • Click a cell in the Template column of the table.
    • In the Select Template dialog box, click the required template.
    • Click OK.
  5. To specify the drawing settings for a component:
    • Click in the Sheet Format column of the table.
    • In the drop-down list, select Automatic Layout.
    • In the Automatic Drawing Setting dialog box, specify the required settings.
    • Click OK.
  6. Click Apply or OK.

Create a drawing group

  1. In the Mold Assembly tab, click 2-D Drawing.
  2. In the 2-D Drawing dialog box, click Drawing filter.
  3. In the Drawing Filter dialog box, click Add.
  4. Enter a name for the new group.
  5. On the File Structure tab, select the nodes of components from the Product Model.
  6. On the Product Model tab, select the parts and assemblies to include in the new group.
  7. Click OK.

Specify a drawing setting for a drawing group

  1. On the Mold Assembly tab, click 2-D Drawing.
  2. In the 2-D Drawing dialog box, click Drawing filter.
  3. In the Drawing Filter dialog box, select a group from the Filter Group Names list.
  4. Click Drawing settings.
  5. In the Drawing Settings dialog box, select a drawing template.
  6. To specify the Drawing Layout:
    • Select Using Sheet Format and then select a sheet format in the drop-down list.
    • Select Automatic View Layout, and then select the Sheet Size value and the Scale value.
    • In Orientation of Front View, set the required orientation: Top or Bottom View , Left or Right View, or Pictorial View.
  7. In Dimension and Style, select Ordinate Style or General Style. If you select Ordinate Style, choose either the Origin of Coordinates button or a center mark location button.
    Note: The mold coordinate system is used as the origin unless you specify the part coordinate system when you place the plastic part in the mold assembly.
  8. Clear the Dimension and Style check box if you do not want to create dimensions in the drawing document.
  9. Clear the Centerlines check box if you do not want to create center lines in the drawing document.
  10. Click OK.

Export a drawing group

  1. On the Mold Assembly tab, click 2-D Drawing.
  2. In the 2-D Drawing dialog box, click Drawing filter.
  3. In the Drawing Filter dialog box, click Export group.
  4. In the Export Drawing Group Definition dialog box, navigate to the folder in which to save the Group Definition File.
  5. Enter a name for the file.
  6. Click Save.

Import a drawing group

  1. On the Mold Assembly tab, click 2-D Drawing.
  2. In the 2-D Drawing dialog box, click Drawing filter.
  3. In the Drawing Filter dialog box, click Import group.
  4. In the Import Drawing Group Definition dialog box, locate and select a Group Definition File.
  5. Click Open.
