Bevel Gears Generator dialog box - Design tab

Sets parameters for the design of a bevel gear.

Note: Curve used in a tooth shape is simplified.

Access:

Ribbon: Design tab Power Transmission panel Bevel Gear

Common

Determines general specifications of the bevel gear.

Face width

Specifies face width.

Helix Angle

Specifies helix angle. You can insert only positive values from 0 to 55. To change direction, click Flip next to the edit field.

Helix Angle Flip

Switches helix direction.

Shaft Angle

Specifies the angle between shaft axis.

Unit Correction Distribution

Specifies the method for calculation of the teeth correction.

Preview

Displays the schematic image of the bevel gear dimensions.

Click Gear 1, Gear 2 to see appropriate calculated results.

Gear 1, Gear 2

Specifies the type of gear (Component, no model) and the placement of gear.

There are two options for the method to insert the bevel gear. According to your selection, commands for placement are enabled in the Gear 1 and Gear 2 boxes.

Cylindrical Face

Select cylindrical face.

Start plane

Select start face or work plane. Use Flip to flip the planar face or work plane

Click More in the right lower corner of the Design tab to display additional options for bevel gear design.

Input Type

Gear ratio

Calculates number of teeth of the second gear according to gear ratio.

Number of Teeth

Calculates the gear ratio according to number of teeth.

Size Type

Module

Calculates the diametral pitch.

Diametral Pitch

Calculates the module.

Unit Tooth Sizes

Check the Gear 2 box to enter values for Gear 2.

Results

To display the Results area on the right side of the Calculation and Design tabs, double-click the double line on the right or click the chevron.

Displays the calculated values and the key strength check. Values are calculated when Calculate is pressed.

To change the units of the results values, double-click the specified value you want to change.

Summary of Messages

Displays the reports about calculation. To open the Summary of Messages at the bottom of the Calculation and Design tabs, double-click the double line at the bottom of tabs or if you click the chevron.

Graphical Preview

Graphical preview of the designed bevel gear is presented in the Autodesk Inventor window when you specify the bevel gear placement (cylindrical face must be selected). Preview changes according to changes made in Bevel Gears Generator.
