Add an edge symbol

The Property Panel workflow is progressive and flows from top to bottom of the panel. Selected parameters affect the feature and set the context for the following sections in the panel.

Edge symbol is not allowed to be renamed in panel, and there is not browser node for edge symbol

  1. On the ribbon, click Annotate tab Symbols panel Edge Symbol.
  2. To place the symbol, do one of the following:
    • To create a symbol without a leader line, double-click a location for the symbol.
    • To create a symbol with a leader line, click a location for the start point of the leader line. If you click a highlighted edge or point, the leader line is attached to the edge or point. Move the cursor and click to add a vertex to the leader line. When the symbol indicator is in the desired position, right-click, and select Continue.
  3. (Optional) Select a symbol preset and modify as needed. If no preset exists, continue with these steps. In step 5 you can save a preset.
    Note: If a preset cannot be selected (grayed text) most likely there is an incompatibility between the style settings and the preset content. To use the preset, change either the incompatible content or style setting.
  4. Set the attributes and values for the symbol in the property panel:
    Position
    Select the edge symbol position:
    • Symbol defined in a vertical direction.
    • Symbol defined in a horizontal direction.
    • Symbol defined in vertical and horizontal directions.
    • Direction undefined.
    • No symbol values.
    General Indication
    Note: Available when you define an edge symbol without a leader line.
    Select the edge symbol indication:
    • Symbol defined for all edges.
    • Symbol defined for in outside edges.
    • Symbol defined for the inside edges.
    • Placed as a Majority symbol. A condition for all edges with more than one exception.
    • Placed as a Majority symbol. A condition for one exception.
    Options
    Specifies the general attributes of the symbol.

    Sets the range of values.

    Adds the all-round indicator to the symbol. The diameter is specified in the Leader style.

    Adds the all-round indicator to the symbol with clearly defined sides.

    Adds the ISO 13715 reference to the symbol. Available when you define an edge symbol without a leader line.

    Use the preview to enter the values.

  5. (Optional) Click the icon to add the plus and minus signs to the symbol.
  6. (Optional) If the symbol values are used often, save them as a named preset. To save as a preset, in the preset field click and accept the default name or specify one based on your naming conventions.

  7. Click OK to place the symbol.
  8. Continue placing symbols. When you finish, right-click, and click Cancel.
