General Enhancements

Check out the enhancements that span multiple Inventor environments.

Origin Work Feature Names

Origin work features have long been able to be renamed, but the custom names didn't carry over into the dialogs that used the origin work features to create other features. This release includes custom name propagation into those dialogs using the origin work features, such as:
  • Mirror for Part and Assembly environments
  • Derive Part and Derive Assembly - work planes for mirror
  • Make Part and Make Component - work planes for mirror
  • Rectangular Pattern - work axes

Canvas Navigation

A new application option to control whether or not the pivot point is used when orbiting the model in the canvas is added. Deselected, the legacy orbit behavior is used.

When zoomed into a design, with the option selected, orbit uses the nearest model point. Position the cursor near the model point you want to use as a pivot, then hold down the shift key and use the middle mouse button to orbit around the model point. With the option deselected, the orbit pivot corresponds to the center of the 3D minimum bounding box.

GPU Thread Rendering with AMD GPUs

AMD has updated the drivers. Decal and thread rendering is now supported on machines using the updated drivers.

For more information see GPU Ray Tracing (Pre-release) Details.

Custom iProperties

Copy and paste one or more custom iProperties between documents.

When pasting properties into another document, if duplicates exist, you are prompted for the action you want to take:

For more information see To Work with iProperties in Files or Templates.

GPU Rendering

GPU rendering now supports the use of Standard lights within the IBL lighting.

For more information see About Lighting Styles and To Work with Lighting Styles.

iLogic Enhancements

Finishes browser node added

If Finishes exist in the document, the Finishes browser node is now available in the iLogic Rule editor in the Model tab. Right-click the node and select Capture Current State to capture the definition. In Assemblies, select the Finishes node to capture all definitions.

Capture Current State for Content Center parts

A new option to capture current state is added to the iLogic Rule Editor for Content Center parts. Instead of capturing the Designation, it obtains the key values and provides the code with a name-value list. This makes it easier to specify individual required values, rather than having to combine them into one Designation value.

Right-click on a Content Center component in the Rule Editor to display and use the newly added "Capture Current State (Components.Add by Designation) "option. Note that this option is only available in assemblies.
